A Lahore court has extended the interim bail of PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar in the cyber harassment case filed by actress Momina Iqbal. The court also directed the lawmaker to join the investigation and summoned the prosecution record for the next hearing.
The latest hearing focused on the progress of the investigation into allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and threats. The court ordered the relevant authorities to present the prosecution record and continue the legal process.
The court extended the interim bail of Saqib Chadhar until July 28. The extension will remain in place while the investigation continues and the court reviews the available evidence.
Earlier, on June 24, the Lahore sessions court had postponed the proceedings until July 2. At that time, Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddique noted that the investigation had not been completed, making it necessary to delay further proceedings.
The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Authorities filed the complaint under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
According to the case, Saqib Chadhar faces allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and issuing threats to actress Momina Iqbal through electronic means. The lawmaker has obtained interim bail while the investigation is underway.
The court has now instructed him to cooperate fully with investigators. It also emphasized the importance of completing the inquiry before further legal proceedings.
Momina Iqbal has previously stated that she possesses evidence related to the allegations. She has also said that she is prepared to present the facts if required during the legal process.
The actress has remained vocal about pursuing the matter through legal channels. However, the court has not yet examined the evidence or reached any findings regarding the allegations.
Momina Iqbal is a Pakistani actress and model who entered the entertainment industry in 2018. Since then, she has appeared in several television dramas and gained recognition for her performances.
She completed her early education in Karachi before moving to Lahore for higher studies. She later earned a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lahore.
The legal proceedings remain at the investigation stage. The prosecution is expected to present the requested record during the next hearing. The court will then review the progress made by the investigating authorities.
The extension of interim bail does not determine the outcome of the case. It allows the accused temporary legal relief while the investigation continues.
