Pakistan’s most-followed TikToker, Jannat Mirza, has found herself under intense online scrutiny after sharing images and videos of her Hajj journey on social media. What began as a spiritual trip with her family has now turned into a topic of public controversy.
The backlash started when Jannat posted a video of an empty airplane cabin, suggesting the family had the entire plane to themselves. This triggered criticism from users accusing her of flaunting luxury during what is meant to be a humble religious pilgrimage. Although she later clarified the flight was a Saudi Airlines service and not privately chartered, the explanation did little to calm critics.

Social media users questioned whether the footage promoted materialism over spirituality. Some pointed out that early boarding for business class passengers might explain the empty seats, while others speculated the privacy was arranged due to the family’s fame.
The online criticism has included calls for humility and greater awareness of how religious rituals are portrayed online. Many urged influencers to approach such experiences with more discretion and sincerity, especially when representing faith-based journeys to a wide audience.
Jannat has remained silent since the video, but the incident has reignited ongoing discussions about the role of influencers in shaping public perceptions of sacred traditions.
