Bollywood actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut and veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar have finally settled their long-standing defamation dispute through mediation, bringing an end to a four-year legal battle.

The case, which stemmed from Kangana’s 2020 remarks linking Akhtar to a Bollywood coterie, saw both parties withdraw their complaints and offer mutual apologies. Kangana expressed regret for any inconvenience caused, acknowledging a misunderstanding, while Akhtar accepted her apology and dropped his defamation case.
Following the resolution, Kangana revealed on social media that Akhtar had graciously agreed to write songs for her next directorial project.
