Lahore Court Bars Police from Arresting YouTuber Rajab Butt Until June 21

A sessions court on Thursday granted interim relief to YouTuber Rajab Butt, prohibiting police from arresting him until June 21 in connection with serious allegations, including rape, blackmail, and illegal detention of a female social media activist.

The case was heard by Additional Sessions Judge Suleman Ghumman after Rajab Butt submitted a plea for interim bail. Butt appeared in court and was represented by prominent lawyer Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq. The court instructed Butt to cooperate with the investigation while granting him protection from arrest until the next hearing date.

The charges stem from an FIR filed earlier this month at Nawab Town Police Station by a female social media personality. According to her complaint, she was initially in touch with Salman Haider, a relative of Rajab Butt. She alleges that Salman drugged and raped her, recorded explicit videos without her permission, and used the material to blackmail her.

She further claimed that she was unlawfully detained at Salman Butt’s residence, where Rajab Butt and others, including Maan Dogar, were present during her confinement. The police have registered a case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched a formal probe to verify the claims and identify those involved.

This incident is not Rajab Butt’s first brush with controversy. He previously sparked backlash over a blasphemy-related issue involving his perfume brand “295,” which angered religious groups. Butt later clarified that the reaction was due to a misunderstanding and expressed his respect for religious sentiments. He also remains under criticism for allegedly sharing inappropriate content on digital platforms.
