The Lahore Sessions Court conducted a hearing on the alleged video case involving renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. The hearing focused on a bail application filed by a suspect recently arrested in connection with the matter.
During the proceedings, the court directed the National Counter Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to submit the complete case record for review. The duty judge heard arguments regarding the suspectβs bail plea and later adjourned the hearing until November 19.
Earlier, on October 30, the same court had issued a two-page verdict related to a plea seeking the cancellation of bail in this case. The court ruled that the charges faced by the accused were non-bailable, and therefore, the bail request could not be granted. The verdict further stated that while bail is a legal right, it does not extend to offences classified as non-bailable under the law.
The written order also highlighted that the allegedly objectionable video was created using the accusedβs mobile phone, emphasizing that cybercrime of this nature cannot be considered a minor violation. The court maintained that such offences must be treated seriously due to their digital nature and potential harm.
The case involving Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has attracted public and media attention, given his prominence as a well-known writer and dramatist. Authorities continue to investigate the matter to determine the authenticity of the video and the extent of involvement of the accused individuals.
The next hearing, scheduled for November 19, is expected to review the NCCIA report and further clarify the legal standing of the suspects. The courtβs decision will likely shape the direction of the ongoing inquiry into the alleged video linked to Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
