Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Arora, sadly passed away on Wednesday in what is suspected to be a suicide. According to the Mumbai Police, he jumped from the terrace of his residence in Bandra. Authorities are investigating the incident, and the motive behind his drastic action remains unclear.

Anil Arora was a private person who generally stayed out of the public eye. Last year, Malaika Arora and her mother were seen at a Mumbai hospital visiting him during an undisclosed illness.

Anil lived in Bandra, while Malaika and her sister Amrita frequently visited him. Malaika Arora herself resides in an apartment in Pali Hill.

Originally from Fazilka, a border town in Punjab, Anil Arora worked with the Indian Merchant Navy. Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, is of Malayali Christian descent.

After her parents’ divorce when she was 11, Malaika moved with her mother and sister Amrita to Chembur. Amrita married businessman Shakeel Ladak in 2009 and they have two sons, Azaan and Rayaan.
