Mehak Malik Booked Over Allegedly Obscene Dance at Punjab Wedding

A case has been filed against well-known transgender performer Mehak Malik for allegedly performing an obscene dance at a Mehndi event in Yazman Mandi, a city in South Punjab.

The FIR, registered under violations of the Amplifier Act, includes Malik and 35 others. So far, no arrests have been made.

According to the FIR, Malik was invited to a village wedding function near Yazman Mandi, where she allegedly wore revealing clothes and danced to provocative songs, while attendees threw money at her.

Of the 35 individuals named in the case, 10 have been identified, while 25 remain unknown. Reports also suggest that several government employees, including a police officer, were present at the event, though none have been officially named in the FIR.

The incident has triggered an online debate, with many raising concerns about selective enforcement of laws and questioning the accountability of public officials involved in socially controversial gatherings.
