Pakistani actress and dancer Mehar Bano has openly addressed the often-overlooked issue of harassment in the entertainment industry, revealing the troubling realities that exist beneath its glamorous surface.
Currently residing abroad, the Taxali Gate star shared that artists frequently face inappropriate demands in exchange for professional opportunities. She emphasized that harassment is not limited to one gender—both men and women are affected.

In a recent appearance on a private TV show hosted by Tabish Hashmi, Mehar Bano—well-known for her outspoken nature—discussed sensitive issues within showbiz that are rarely brought to light publicly.
Responding to a question from a young member of the audience, she acknowledged that, like many other industries, the entertainment world also has its darker aspects. She said that performers are often pressured by influential figures and subjected to indecent offers in return for roles.
Mehar explained that the industry’s emphasis on beauty and charm can make individuals particularly vulnerable to exploitation.
“Harassment isn’t gender-specific,” she stated. “Both male and female artists are targeted,” underscoring the need for open dialogue and awareness to address the systemic issues within the entertainment sector.
