‘Mirzapur’ Season 3 Breaks All Previous Records

“Mirzapur” season 3 shattered the records set by its previous two seasons, becoming Prime Video India’s most-watched show during its launch weekend. The crime drama also garnered international acclaim, trending in the platform’s Top 10 list in over 85 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, according to an Indian media outlet.

Prime Video reported that Mirzapur 3 was viewed in 98% of India’s postal codes during its opening weekend, beginning on July 5. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Anand Iyer, the show is now streaming on Prime Video in 240 countries worldwide.

The creators are already developing the fourth season, although details remain under wraps. Indian media outlets have confirmed that work on the next season is underway, with actor Sherrnavaz Sam Jijina, who played Shabnam in season 3, affirming the news. She hinted at an early release, saying, “Mirzapur season 4 will happen sooner than later. I am sure they’ll again come up with something that has a lot of shock value.”

Nikhil Madhok, head of India originals at Prime Video, emphasized the show’s strong connection with audiences, noting that the third season’s success highlights this bond. The ensemble cast of Mirzapur season 3 includes Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, Anjumm Shharma, and Isha Talwar, among others.

The original Mirzapur was released in November 2018, quickly capturing audience attention. Season 2 followed in October 2020. The crime drama revolves around a criminal family involved in major crimes such as drug trafficking in the lawless city of Mirzapur. They face constant threats from rival gangs seeking to overthrow them.

The sustained popularity and record-breaking success of Mirzapur underscore its compelling narrative and strong character development, keeping audiences eagerly anticipating each new season.
