A wedding celebration organised by Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlo turned tragic after a stampede at his mehndi ceremony in Sialkot left one man dead and at least 14 others injured.

The incident took place on Saturday night at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road, where a large crowd had gathered to attend the wedding celebrations of Muhammad Ansar Jatt, popularly known as Mr Patlo.

According to initial reports, hundreds of people arrived at the venue to participate in a prize distribution event. Motorcycles and a car were reportedly among the prizes announced for attendees through a lucky draw.

The situation became chaotic when the venue’s entrance gates opened and people attempted to enter simultaneously. The sudden rush triggered pushing and shoving, causing several attendees to fall and sustain injuries.

Among those affected was 30-year-old Muhammad Aqeel, who reportedly died while being transported to hospital due to his critical condition.

Rescue 1122 and Sialkot police launched a joint emergency operation after receiving information about the incident.

The injured were shifted to Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital in Sialkot for medical assistance. According to reports, several people were discharged after receiving first aid, while others remained under medical care.

Rescue officials identified at least 14 injured individuals, with victims reportedly belonging to different districts of Punjab, including Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, Okara, Gujrat and Bahawalpur.

However, some local residents claimed that more than 40 people had sustained injuries, saying several attendees were taken to nearby private hospitals and clinics before rescue teams arrived. This higher figure had not been independently confirmed.

The event was organised to celebrate the mehndi ceremony of Muhammad Ansar Jatt, who is widely recognised on social media as Mr Patlo.

A large number of his followers reportedly travelled from different cities to attend the celebration and take part in the prize draw.

As the crowd gathered outside Faraz Cricket Ground, the situation became difficult to manage when the entrance gates were opened.

People rushed towards the entrance, resulting in a sudden crowd surge. Several attendees reportedly fell to the ground and were caught in the pushing and trampling.

Sialkot District Emergency Officer Engineer Naveed Iqbal said Rescue 1122 had not received prior information about the large gathering planned at the venue.

Four ambulances and one motorcycle ambulance reportedly took part in the rescue operation.

Following the stampede, District Police Officer Dost Muhammad reached the venue with police personnel and Elite Force members.

Police took control of the situation and helped ensure that emergency teams could carry out rescue operations.

The DPO also raised concerns about the organisers opening the stadium gates ahead of the scheduled time. He said all aspects of the incident would be examined and appropriate legal action would follow.

The incident has also raised questions about crowd management, security arrangements and the safety measures required for large public gatherings.

The Sialkot stampede has highlighted the risks associated with poorly managed crowds at public events.

Large celebrations involving prize distributions and popular social media personalities can attract more visitors than organisers initially expect.

Proper entry and exit arrangements, trained security staff, controlled access and emergency response planning are important to prevent similar incidents.

Police and relevant authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and determine whether the organisers followed the required safety arrangements.
