Body shaming in the online space remains a concerning issue, with many Pakistani celebrities, including Zara Noor and Asim Azhar, speaking out against the practice. The prevalence of judgmental comments, especially about one’s weight or appearance, often leads to celebrities being targeted by trolls. Despite the distance and anonymity that empower these online critics, celebrities are expected to endure such negativity and move forward.
The latest victim of body shaming is actor-model Minal Khan, who recently became a mother after welcoming her first child with actor Ahsan Mohsin Ikram in November 2023. Unfortunately, Minal’s postpartum weight has become a subject of criticism, showcasing the insensitivity prevailing in online spaces during a transformative period meant for recovery and understanding.

In response to the hateful comments directed at Minal, actor Nausheen Shah, known for her role in “Chikkar,” took a stand against body shaming. Nausheen expressed her support for Minal by leaving a candid note on her Instagram post. She complimented Minal’s beauty and advised her to take her time and enjoy life, emphasizing the need for patience and self-care during the postpartum period.
Nausheen directly addressed the trolls, urging them to leave Minal alone. She questioned the growing insensitivity and lack of empathy in online interactions, especially when dealing with someone who has recently given birth. Nausheen highlighted the emotional and physical challenges that women go through during pregnancy and chastised those who engage in mean-spirited comments.
Furthermore, Nausheen emphasized the importance of sisterhood and called on women to support each other. She pointed out the lack of fear of God in those who engage in body shaming and underscored that becoming a mother is not a trivial matter. Nausheen’s comments serve as a strong plea for empathy, understanding, and kindness in online discourse, particularly when it comes to discussing a woman’s postpartum journey.
