Pakistani researcher Dr. Maheera Abdul Ghani has brought pride to the nation after winning the prestigious 2025 Science Award for her outstanding work in science education and outreach. Dr. Ghani received the Science Award under the “Nature Inspiring Women in Science” program in the Science Outreach category. The award, presented by Nature in collaboration with Springer Nature and Estée Lauder Companies Inc., includes a $50,000 cash prize. It recognizes individuals and organizations that inspire and empower women in scientific fields.

As co-founder of WinSci Pakistan, Dr. Ghani has played a key role in mentoring and connecting young women across the country who aspire to build careers in STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Her platform focuses on reducing gender disparities in science by creating opportunities and providing professional guidance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ghani expressed gratitude for the recognition, dedicating the Science Award to women scientists who continue to break barriers in the field. WinSci Pakistan, established five years ago, has successfully conducted workshops, mentorship programs, and collaborations with academic institutions to strengthen science education among women.
