Paris Hilton has opened up about an unexpected hairstyle mishap from the early 2000s that surprisingly became a trend. The 44-year-old star, recently announced as the global ambassador for Paul Mitchell, shared the story in an interview with US Weekly.
Hilton explained that the short haircut, which became one of her signature looks at the time, was never planned. “I was not paying attention, just on my phone, and I looked up — my hair had been all the way down to my waist — and suddenly it was cut to my ears,” she recalled.
The sudden change left her in shock. She remembered calling her sister Nicky Hilton in tears after seeing her reflection. “I didn’t know what to say. [The hairstylist] asked, ‘Do you like it?’ and I just went to the bathroom and cried,” she said.
Despite her distress, Hilton chose to embrace the style. She added extensions and shaped the cut into a bob. To her surprise, the look caught on quickly, and many fans started copying it on the red carpet. “Then everyone started cutting their hair, and I was like, ‘OK,’” Hilton added.
Now a mother of two with her husband Carter Reum, Paris Hilton is stepping into a new role with Paul Mitchell. She stars in the brand’s latest campaign, which has been described as a “love letter to professional hairstylists.” The campaign showcases her in multiple hairstyles, from sleek bobs to high ponytails, and will appear across ULTA Beauty stores nationwide.
