Priyanka Chopra has explained the real reason behind her Hollywood move, saying it was driven by creative limitations in Bollywood.
In a recent interview with Firstpost, Chopra clarified that leaving India’s film industry was never her intention. “I don’t think I ever wanted to leave Bollywood,” she said. “I felt limited for many reasons when I was working in Hindi films. I wanted to expand. That led to my Hollywood move.”
The actor added that her decision was motivated by the search for more fulfilling roles. “I was kind of pushed into wanting to look for opportunities that would be exciting to me as an artiste,” Chopra said. “I landed up working in America, and now, after almost 12 years, I feel like I am finding the momentum to pick and choose really amazing work.”
Chopra emphasized her love for Indian cinema. She enjoys balancing both worlds and working in diverse film cultures. “I straddle both worlds,” she said. “They are very different to work in, just as cultures are, but now my brain can work in two different ways. It’s really a unique, amazing experience.”
Priyanka Chopra made her American television debut in the thriller series Quantico. Her Hollywood move later led her to roles in major films, including Baywatch and The Matrix Resurrections. She is currently starring in high-profile international projects such as Citadel, Heads of State, and The Bluff.
Despite her success abroad, Chopra is also returning to Indian cinema. She will feature in director S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film, scheduled for a 2027 release. The actor described this as a chance to continue her creative journey across both industries.
