Advocate Rimsha Faces License Cancellation Inquiry Over Alleged Failure to Disclose Foreign Employment

Advocate Rimsha Faces License Cancellation Inquiry Over Alleged Failure to Disclose Foreign Employment

A complaint seeking disciplinary action against Advocate Rimsha has been filed with the Punjab Bar Council, placing the lawyer under scrutiny over allegations related to overseas employment.

According to details, the complaint was submitted by High Court lawyer Chaudhry Asif Wali and has been formally registered with the Punjab Bar Council under Diary No. 3378. The matter has now been forwarded to the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee for review.

The complaint alleges that Advocate Rimsha, who is also the sister of actress Momina Iqbal, worked as a full-time salaried Office Manager for an Australian company from March 2023 to April 2026. Despite the alleged employment, the complaint claims she continued to hold an active license to practice law in Punjab.

The applicant argues that she did not inform the Punjab Bar Council about the overseas job and did not seek suspension of her legal license during that period. According to the complaint, legal practitioners are required to notify the Bar Council and suspend their licenses before taking up full-time employment or certain commercial activities under the Punjab Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules, 2023.

The complaint further claims that documentary evidence exists to support the allegations. This reportedly includes employment records and banking documents showing salary transfers. The complainant has requested the Bar Council to conduct a detailed inquiry and initiate disciplinary proceedings if the allegations are found to be correct.

The application describes the alleged conduct as a serious violation of professional ethics. It has requested strict action, including possible suspension or cancellation of Advocate Rimsha’s license if the claims are proven during the disciplinary process.

The issue has attracted public attention because of her connection to actress Momina Iqbal. The case has also emerged amid an ongoing legal dispute involving Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar.

In a separate matter, Chadhar submitted an application to Bhawana Police Station alleging that Rimsha Iqbal failed to return Rs8 million that was allegedly provided in connection with arranging a bank statement for overseas travel. He has reportedly submitted banking records to support his claim and requested legal action.

However, Rimsha Iqbal has strongly denied the allegations. She filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and challenged the lawmaker to prove his claims in court.

She has also accused the politician of sending threatening messages and voice notes. According to her allegations, both she and actress Momina Iqbal received threats after she allegedly rejected a marriage proposal.

At present, all allegations against Advocate Rimsha remain unproven. No disciplinary authority or court has yet ruled on the claims. Any action regarding her legal license will depend on the outcome of the Punjab Bar Council’s inquiry and any future legal proceedings.
