Controversial YouTuber Rajab Butt has once again sparked backlash—this time over the extravagant manner in which he marked his niece’s Aqiqah ceremony.
Once hailed as one of Pakistan’s most-viewed YouTubers in 2024, Rajab’s rising fame has increasingly been clouded by controversy. His shift from internet fame to public disapproval began with his opulent wedding, which drew intense criticism and triggered legal issues related to undisclosed gifts—eventually leading to his arrest.

Following that, a series of scandals—including inappropriate public remarks, a perfume brand launch, prominent tattoos, and even a blasphemy case—further tainted his image. These events led him to briefly leave Pakistan. On his return, Rajab attempted a rebrand by shifting to family-oriented vlogs in hopes of regaining his followers’ trust.
While he was abroad, his sister welcomed a baby girl. The family recently organized an elaborate Aqiqah celebration for the child, Ayat Zahra.
However, videos from the event quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons.
The footage shows Rajab, his wife Iman, and other relatives throwing money over the baby—an act that many online viewers condemned as insensitive and excessive.
Critics took to social media to express their outrage, accusing the family of misrepresenting a religious occasion for online clout and material display.
One user commented, “If this money was truly earned through halal means, it wouldn’t be squandered in such a shameful way.”
Another said, “This is not how an Islamic Aqiqah is celebrated—this is just a rehearsed social media stunt to flaunt wealth and drive views.”
A particularly scathing remark called the event “a disgraceful misuse of money.”
