At a recent meet-and-greet in New York, Sajal Ali reflected on her experience filming What’s Love Got to Do with It? and revealed that she never attended an acting school.
“I have never taken on projects just to win awards. People’s appreciation drives me, and I love telling fascinating stories,” she shared.

Discussing her Hollywood experience, she expressed pride in working alongside Lily James, Emma Thompson, and Shabana Azmi. “There’s so much to learn in that environment,” she added.
Sajal credited her success to early-career projects, her team, and her family’s support. “I still doubt myself with every new project, but I consider myself lucky to have received opportunities,” she admitted.
Despite her growth, she emphasized that actors don’t always relate to their characters. “If I only play roles similar to myself, it would be boring for both me and the audience,” she explained.
