The tragic case of social media influencer has once again brought attention to the killing of young content creator Sana Yousaf. The incident shocked many due to its disturbing details and motive linked to obsession.
According to reports, Sana Yousaf was a popular TikTok and Instagram personality with over one million followers on TikTok and nearly half a million on Instagram. She was known for light and friendly lifestyle content.
Authorities stated that the accused developed a one-sided obsession after interacting with Sana Yousaf online. The situation escalated when repeated attempts to contact her were rejected by her and her family.
Police records show that the accused, Umar Hayat, travelled to Islamabad multiple times before the incident. He reportedly tried to meet Sana Yousaf on her birthday but was unable to do so.
On the day of the incident, he allegedly entered her residence after a confrontation. The argument escalated quickly, leading to a fatal shooting inside the home.
Reports confirm that Sana Yousaf was shot twice in the chest. She was rushed to the hospital but died on the way due to severe injuries.
Inspector General of Police Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi confirmed the arrest of the accused. He stated that the suspect, a 22-year-old unemployed man, had repeatedly attempted contact before the crime.
Police also recovered important evidence during the investigation. Officials said the accused later confessed to the murder during questioning.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also confirmed developments in the case. He stated that both the weapon and the victimโs mobile phone were recovered during the investigation.
The court later announced its verdict in the Sana Yousaf case. The accused was sentenced to death for intentional murder. He was also fined Rs 2.5 million for the victimโs family.
Additional sentences were issued for trespassing, robbery, and illegal entry into the house. The case has drawn widespread public attention across the country.
Following the verdict, Sana Yousafโs mother demanded strict punishment and called for public execution of the convict. The case continues to spark debate about online harassment and safety of social media influencers.
