Seema Haider Faces Uncertain Future Amid New Delhi’s Crackdown

Seema Haider

Seema Haider, who moved from Pakistan to India for a love marriage, now faces expulsion as the Indian government tightens its stance on Pakistani citizens following the Pahalgam incident. She has been given just three days to leave the country.

Her lawyer, A.P. Singh, remains optimistic, arguing that Seema should be exempt as she has married an Indian citizen, Sachin Meena, and recently welcomed a daughter, Bharti Meena, in Greater Noida. Singh emphasized that Seema’s situation differs from others since she no longer identifies as a Pakistani national.

The legal team has already submitted a petition to the President of India, stressing that Seema is complying with all legal conditions and her name is on her daughter’s Indian birth certificate, further cementing her ties to India.

Meanwhile, the Indian government’s orders come after the Pahalgam incident, with visas of Pakistani citizens being cancelled and most asked to leave by the end of April, except for those on medical visas which remain valid until April 29.
