Sheema Kermani, a well-known women’s rights advocate and classical dancer, voiced her concerns about the rising immoral themes in Pakistani television dramas.
Speaking at a recent event, she criticized how modern men have deteriorated compared to previous generations, attributing this shift to the negative influence of TV dramas and news consumed during childhood, as well as male-dominated ideologies prevalent during dictatorship periods.

Kermani condemned Pakistani dramas for frequently depicting extramarital affairs, which she argued do not represent real life, emphasizing that not all men desire second marriages.
She also challenged the common negative portrayal of mothers-in-law in these dramas, stating that this stereotype is far from the truth.
She stressed the need for media to play a constructive role by promoting positive social values instead of reinforcing harmful stereotypes. Kermani called on drama producers to take responsibility for their content and create stories that uphold societal respect.
Her remarks come amid growing concerns over the increasing focus on immoral and exaggerated negative portrayals in Pakistani television serials.
