Following his separation from tennis star Sania Mirza, former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has often been in the spotlight, especially after his second marriage to actress Sana Javed. Despite the scrutiny, Shoaib has maintained a close relationship with his son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, who lives with his mother in Dubai.
In a recent appearance on a Ramzan TV program, Shoaib shared that his relationship with Izhaan is more like a friendship than the traditional father-son dynamic. He revealed that Izhaan doesn’t call him “Papa” but affectionately refers to him as “Bro.” Shoaib explained, “Theek hai, mera beta hai, par jo uske saath relationship hai vo dosti wala hai. He calls me bro, mai bhi usko kabhi kabhi bro bolta hoon” (He is my son, but our bond is more like friends, which is why he calls me bro).

Despite the physical distance, Shoaib makes it a point to visit Izhaan in Dubai at least twice a month. He actively participates in his son’s daily routine, including school drop-offs, pick-ups, and football practice, ensuring he remains a consistent presence in Izhaan’s life.
Shoaib also shared that Izhaan is passionate about football and frequently challenges him to matches in the park. “Main koshish karta hoon mahine mein at least do dafa mil loon Dubai jaake. Aur jo bhi din waha rehta hoon, I make sure I drop him to school, pick him up, aur uski activities mein shamil hota hoon,” the cricketer said.
Although his split from Sania Mirza has drawn public attention, Shoaib’s dedication to being a present father is evident. On Izhaan’s birthday, he surprised his son with a special celebration, complete with a car-themed cake, showing his commitment to creating joyful memories despite their family circumstances.
