Sony Pictures has officially moved the release date of Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, by one week. Originally scheduled to debut on July 24, 2026, the eagerly awaited Marvel film will now hit theaters on July 31, 2026. This change strategically positions the film two weeks after Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project The Odyssey, which also stars Holland.
The update follows the announcement that Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will direct the new Spider-Man movie. Cretton is currently involved in multiple Marvel projects, including the Wonder Man miniseries and a possible Shang-Chi sequel, adding more excitement to the Spider-Man project.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland revealed that production for Spider-Man 4 is set to begin in mid-2025. “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go—we’re nearly there,” Holland told Fallon, expressing his enthusiasm for returning to the role of Peter Parker.
Holland will reprise his role following the massive success of the previous Spider-Man trilogy, directed by Jon Watts. The last film in the series, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), became a global box office hit, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
As Marvel continues its interconnected storytelling, Spider-Man 4 is expected to tie into upcoming projects like Avengers: Doomsday, further building anticipation among fans. With casting, plot details, and production updates expected in the coming months, the film remains one of the most highly anticipated releases in the MCU.
