MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped serious injury after unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18.
According to reports by The Indian Express and Hindustan Times, the incident occurred near Pushpa Park as the actor was returning from a football match. His driver and another person were reportedly injured during the shooting. Police launched an investigation to identify the attackers and establish their motive.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of public figures in Mumbai.
Mumbai Police Investigate Tiger Shroff Shooting
Police have formed multiple teams to investigate the shooting and identify those responsible. Investigators are examining evidence from the scene and reviewing available CCTV footage.
Maharashtra officials have also taken notice of the incident. According to media reports, the actor’s driver sustained a gunshot injury, while another person nearby was also hurt.
Tiger Shroff reportedly escaped serious harm. However, the precise circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
Authorities are working to establish how the attackers approached the vehicle and whether the actor was specifically targeted.
Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claim Under Investigation
Following the incident, a social media post and an audio recording attributed to individuals claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang circulated online.
Indian media reports identified Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu as individuals allegedly claiming responsibility for the attack. The messages reportedly included threats against people associated with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
However, a claim made on social media does not establish responsibility for a crime. Mumbai Police have not publicly confirmed the alleged gang’s involvement, and investigators must verify the authenticity of the circulating material.
The investigation is expected to examine whether the messages are connected to the shooting or were circulated separately.
Previous Shooting Outside Salman Khan’s Residence
The incident has also drawn comparisons with the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai in April 2024.
Two motorcycle-borne attackers allegedly fired shots outside the actor’s Galaxy Apartments home in Bandra. The incident led to a major police investigation and renewed attention to threats against Bollywood celebrities.
Authorities subsequently investigated alleged links involving members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The gang has been associated with threats against Salman Khan. Reports have linked the hostility to the actor’s alleged involvement in a 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan.
Blackbucks hold religious significance for members of the Bishnoi community.
