Actress Vidya Balan recently opened up about why she chose not to be part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 despite the immense popularity of her character, Manjulika, in the original film. At a recent media event, Balan shared that while Bhool Bhulaiyaa had been a turning point in her career, the long gap since the first film made her hesitant.

Balan revealed that producer Bhushan Kumar had offered her a role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and while she found the script intriguing, she feared she wouldn’t be able to do justice to Manjulika after such a long hiatus. However, after seeing the sequel’s trailer, Balan decided to join the upcoming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
The actress is set to return as Manjulika alongside Madhuri Dixit, who is also reprising her role, with Kartik Aaryan playing a competitive character in the new film. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is scheduled to release on November 1, coinciding with Diwali.
Balan playfully teased her fans to catch the horror-comedy in cinemas, warning them that “Manjulika won’t let you go” if they miss out. She expressed excitement at rejoining the franchise after 17 years and hopes the third installment continues the success for many years to come.
