Maryam Nawaz: Nawaz Not Stepping Away from Politics

Maryam Nawaz, Chief Organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has dismissed speculation regarding former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif stepping back from politics, asserting that there is no truth to such claims.

In a statement posted on X, Maryam emphasized that Nawaz Sharif intends to remain actively involved in politics over the next five years, overseeing government affairs both at the federal level and in Punjab.

Addressing Nawaz’s decision not to pursue the prime minister’s position, Maryam clarified that the PML-N had a clear majority during his father’s three terms. She highlighted Nawaz’s prior statements indicating his reluctance to join a coalition government, citing his principled stance on the matter.

Maryam reaffirmed her and Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to Nawaz’s leadership, describing themselves as his devoted soldiers bound by his directives. She expressed hope for success under his guidance.

Despite past slogans projecting Nawaz Sharif as the future Prime Minister, recent developments have led to a shift in his role within the party. Now, Nawaz is expected to nominate individuals for key positions while assisting Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in their respective roles.

Marriyum Aurangzeb, PML-N spokesperson, dismissed suggestions that Imran Khan’s actions led to the end of Nawaz’s political career, pointing out that Nawaz remains actively involved in nominating individuals for influential positions in the country.

Refuting speculation about Nawaz aiming for the presidency, Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that Nawaz has no intention of pursuing the office of President.

Despite questions circulating on social media about Nawaz’s political future, PML-N maintains that he will continue to play a significant role in shaping the party’s direction and strategy.
