MQM-P Denies Talks on Next Government Formation After PML-N Meeting

The PML-N and MQM-P reportedly reached an agreement in principle to work together towards forming the next government, as stated by the PML-N. However, MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui contradicted this statement, claiming that no discussions regarding this matter occurred during the meeting between the two parties.

Siddiqui emphasized the need for all parties to play a role in stabilizing democracy amidst the challenging post-election scenario but reiterated that no talks had been held regarding the formation of the next government. He also mentioned that it was premature to speculate whether MQM-P would be given any share in the future government.

The meeting was attended by PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz, along with MQM-P members Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Dr. Farooq Sattar, and Mustafa Kamal.

Despite Nawaz Sharif’s optimistic vision of forming a coalition government by engaging with other parties like the PPP and smaller groups, the electoral outcomes portrayed by the Election Commission of Pakistan’s dashboard indicate dominance by independent candidates, many of whom are backed by the PTI. This raises doubts about the PML-N’s ability to secure a majority for forming a government.
