MQM-P Dismisses Fazl's Statement on Vote of No Condidence as Baseless

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener and former federal minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui addressed the media on Friday at the MQM’s member center, Pakistan House. Siddiqui dismissed recent claims made by JUI-J chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding a no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan.

In response to Fazl’s surprising accusations against former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, Siddiqui held a press conference to question the timing and implications of such statements post-election. He expressed concern about the potential impact on democracy and clarified that the mentioned meeting occurred on March 26, where MQM was also represented.

Siddiqui highlighted the disparity between Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statements and the actual discussions during the meeting. According to Siddiqui, Gen (retd) Bajwa had encouraged national leadership to withdraw the no-confidence motion, advocating for a middle ground for political parties. The meeting delved into various aspects, including economic considerations.

Emphasizing the significance of preserving democracy, Siddiqui warned of potential consequences if the matter escalates, posing a threat to the future of democracy. He asserted that undermining democracy due to election defeat is unacceptable and called for resolving the issue through a national reconciliation dialogue.

Siddiqui concluded by advocating for a national dialogue to address differences, promote unity, and prioritize the democratic process for the greater good of the country.
