The Karachi crime report for July 2025 reveals a sharp rise in street crimes across the city. The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) released the monthly statistics, showing that thousands of vehicles and mobile phones were snatched or stolen in just one month.
According to the report, 502 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint, while 3,357 were stolen from different parts of Karachi. In total, 22 cars were snatched and 197 were reported stolen during July.
Street criminals also targeted mobile phone users. The CPLC reported that 1,603 phones were forcibly taken from citizens last month.
The report also highlights more serious crimes. One kidnapping for ransom and five cases of extortion were recorded. In a disturbing figure, 52 people were killed in various gun-related incidents during the same period.
This rise in crime adds to ongoing concerns about safety in Pakistan’s largest city. In an earlier CPLC report, over 22,600 crimes were recorded during the first three months of 2024. During that time, 373 cars, 15,968 motorbikes, and 6,102 phones were either snatched or stolen.
From January to March 2024, 59 citizens were killed while resisting robbery attempts, and more than 700 were injured. The report also noted 25 extortion cases and five kidnappings for ransom during that time.
Overall, 154 people lost their lives in various criminal incidents across Karachi in the first quarter of 2024, according to CPLC figures.
The CPLC continues to monitor and publish crime data to highlight public safety issues and press for improved law enforcement. As crime rates rise, Karachi’s citizens remain concerned about the lack of effective policing and security.
