Golden Globe-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser has openly admitted to breaking Marvelβs strict secrecy rules about his role in Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In a recent interview with GQ, Hauser, who plays Mole Man in the film, confessed that he had told β70 or 80 random peopleβ about his involvement. These included family members and fans. βIβm not going to lie and say I told literally no one,β he said, adding that those he told were respectful and did not leak the information to the media.
Hauser acknowledged that Marvel projects usually require absolute silence. βEverybody understands at this point, if you do Star Wars or Marvel, you canβt talk about it,β he explained. Still, his honesty led him to share the secret with select people, especially in moments that felt meaningful.
He recalled a time when a young fan in a wheelchair asked if he was Mole Man. Instead of denying it outright, Hauser hinted at the truth with a playful wink, aiming to make the fanβs day.
Speaking about Marvelβs reputation for secrecy, Hauser joked about the consequences. βItβs like, you can get arrested for that. But hopefully theyβre catching the bad guys,β he said. He added that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige likely had more important things to focus on than tracking him down.
Fantastic Four: First Steps was released on July 24, 2025, and continues to perform well at the box office. Hauserβs lighthearted confession has since sparked conversations among fans about the balance between maintaining secrecy and connecting with audiences.
This revelation about the Paul Walter Hauser MCU secret adds an unusual twist to Marvelβs famously tight-lipped production culture.
