The ECC has approved $5.8 million in compensation for the families of the Chinese nationals killed in the Dasu attack

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, has approved several significant financial measures. Among the key decisions is the allocation of $2.5 million in compensation to the families of Chinese citizens killed in the Dasu Hydro Project attack. This compensation will be distributed through the Chinese Embassy in Beijing.

Additionally, the ECC has sanctioned the release of $80 million for the operational expenses of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. The meeting disclosed that the Roosevelt Hotel, closed since 2020, requires a $150 million loan from the National Bank to cover its costs.

Other approvals include over Rs 2.21 billion for the Power Division’s development expenses and to settle dues owed to Sui Southern on steel mills. Furthermore, Rs 12 billion have been allocated for a federal program aimed at preventing infectious diseases, Rs 1.02 billion for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), and Rs 55 million for various projects under the Islamabad administration.

The Nuclear Regulatory Authority has also been granted a technical supplementary grant of Rs 184.5 million to support its operations. These decisions underscore the ECC’s commitment to addressing critical financial obligations and supporting ongoing national and international projects.
