Pakistan Plans Wagah Border Parade Ground Expansion for Larger Public Attendance

The Punjab government, under the leadership of caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has taken a significant step by approving the expansion of the Wagah Border Parade Ground. The objective is to surpass the size of India’s parade ground, emphasizing the importance of enhancing this iconic site.

In a recent meeting, the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) and the Infrastructure Development Authority, Punjab (IDAP), presented the second design for the Wagah Border Parade Ground expansion project. Caretaker Chief Minister Naqvi was briefed on the details, including the budgetary requirements exceeding Rs2 billion for the completion of the project.

The expansion project aims to address the issue of declining capacity to host spectators at the Wagah Border Parade Ground. The proposed plan envisions increasing the ground’s capacity from 6,500 to an impressive 20,000 people, ensuring a larger audience can partake in the experience.

To enhance the viewing experience for spectators attending the parade, the caretaker government has made a strategic decision to install large LCD screens. This move is intended to guarantee clear visibility and a more enjoyable experience for those witnessing the iconic Wagah Border ceremony.

Overall, the decision to expand and modernize the Wagah Border Parade Ground reflects the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting this symbolically significant location, making it a source of national pride and a memorable experience for visitors.
