22 Indian Fishermen Released From Karachi Jail

A total of 22 Indian fishermen were released from Malir Jail in Karachi and sent to the Wagah Border by bus for their repatriation to India. The Edhi Foundation, known for its humanitarian work, has stepped in to cover all travel expenses from the jail to the border, ensuring a smooth transition for the fishermen.

According to officials, the fishermen were arrested for crossing into Pakistani waters, a common issue due to the absence of a physical maritime boundary and the lack of proper navigational tools for small fishing vessels.

These incidents often lead to arrests by the Coast Guards of both countries. However, securing the release of detained fishermen is a lengthy and complicated process due to the strained relations between India and Pakistan.

Despite these challenges, humanitarian efforts like those of the Edhi Foundation help ease the repatriation process, allowing these fishermen to return home to their families.
