Islamabad has recorded 27 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, raising concerns about a potential surge in infections as the weather continues to fluctuate. Health authorities confirmed that most cases were reported from urban and semi-urban areas of the capital.
According to the District Health Office (DHO), special teams have been deployed to conduct anti-dengue operations, including fumigation and awareness campaigns. Officials said that stagnant water and poor sanitation remain the main breeding grounds for mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus.
Hospitals across Islamabad have been placed on high alert to manage the rising number of patients. Medical experts have urged citizens to take preventive measures, such as covering water containers, wearing full-sleeved clothing, and using mosquito repellents.
Health officials also advised residents to immediately seek medical attention if they experience symptoms like high fever, severe headache, joint pain, or rashes β all common signs of dengue fever.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and local administration are coordinating efforts to clean drainage systems and remove potential mosquito breeding spots. Authorities emphasized that community cooperation is essential to curb the spread of the virus.
With 27 dengue cases reported in Islamabad within 24 hours, health experts have warned that continued negligence could lead to a sharp rise in infections in the coming days.
