Pakistan has successfully detected and prevented more than 400 Cyber Attack attempts during 2026, according to the Director General of the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT), Dr. Haider Abbas.
Dr. Abbas said that all reported cyber threats were identified and neutralized before causing major damage. He highlighted that the growing number of digital attacks shows the need for stronger cyber security systems across the country.
Speaking in an interview, the NCERT chief stressed the importance of improving Pakistan’s national cyber defense structure. He said better coordination between institutions is necessary to deal with increasing digital risks.
Dr. Abbas proposed the establishment of a dedicated National Cyber Security Authority. He suggested that the authority should work under the leadership of the Prime Minister to ensure faster decisions and stronger coordination between different departments.
According to him, a centralized cyber security system could improve Pakistan’s ability to respond to emerging threats. Such a framework would help protect government networks, critical infrastructure, and important digital services from potential disruptions.
A Cyber Attack can involve various threats, including data theft, unauthorized system access, malware infections, and attempts to damage online networks. Countries worldwide are strengthening their cyber defense strategies as digital threats continue to increase.
Dr. Abbas emphasized that Pakistan requires a complete approach to cyber security. This includes advanced monitoring systems, stronger institutions, skilled professionals, and cooperation between government agencies and private organizations.
He explained that a national authority could help organize cyber protection efforts more effectively. It would support early threat detection, faster incident response, and the development of long-term security plans.
The increasing number of cyber threats has made digital protection a key priority for governments globally. Pakistan’s efforts to stop hundreds of attacks highlight the importance of building stronger security measures.
Experts believe that improved cyber infrastructure and better coordination can help protect sensitive information and maintain the reliability of essential online services.
