5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Region

A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck multiple areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, causing panic among residents, although there were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.

The quake, with an epicenter in Afghanistan’s Hindukush region, struck at a depth of 230 kilometers, reducing the tremor’s surface impact.

Cities such as Peshawar, Chitral, Upper Dir, Mardan, and Swat reported shaking, leading many to rush outside for safety.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, as aftershocks may follow, and the National Disaster Management Authority is actively monitoring the situation.

In Balochistan, mild tremors with a magnitude of 4.5 were felt on Friday near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, specifically near Nushki. No casualties or significant damage were reported from this quake either.
