ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme is targeting high-performing school students in Pakistan, with an official online portal providing eligibility details and a registration process.

The initiative aims to expand access to digital learning by providing Chromebooks to selected students. The scheme was announced as part of broader efforts to improve technology access and support education across the country.

According to the official scheme portal, eligibility is based on students’ performance in the 2026 annual examinations. Only students enrolled in government and public schools are eligible under the published criteria.

For Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the scheme considers top-performing Grade 9 students based on their annual examination results. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad Capital Territory and Gilgit-Baltistan, top-performing students from both Grade 9 and Grade 10 are eligible for consideration.

The programme’s online portal allows students to check whether their records appear on the relevant board’s list. Applicants can search using their CNIC or B-Form number, roll number or registration number, along with their date of birth.

Students whose records are found must provide the requested information and upload the required documents. These include a recent photograph, the relevant examination mark sheet, an attested copy of the student’s B-Form or CNIC, and an attested copy of the father’s or guardian’s CNIC.

The official portal states that each student can submit only one application. Applicants are advised to review their information carefully before submission because the details cannot be changed by the student after the form has been submitted.

The registration deadline may vary according to the relevant education board. BISE Multan published a notice asking eligible students to complete registration by October 19, 2026. Students should check their own board’s latest notification for any extension or additional instructions.

Chromebooks are laptops that run Google’s ChromeOS operating system. They support web-based learning, online classes, digital assignments, research and other educational activities. Their usefulness for students will also depend on access to reliable internet services and suitable learning resources.

The Chromebook initiative could help selected students gain greater access to digital educational tools. However, students should rely on official government and education-board announcements for confirmed information about their applications and device allocation.

Applicants should use the official Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme portal to check their records and follow the published instructions. They should avoid unofficial websites or individuals promising guaranteed selection in exchange for payment.
