The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced progress in restoring services in areas affected by recent floods. According to officials, over 72% of telecom sites restored in flood-hit regions: PTA, bringing relief to communities that had been cut off from communication.
The heavy monsoon rains caused severe flooding, damaging infrastructure and disrupting mobile networks across several provinces. Telecom services in Sindh, Balochistan, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were badly affected. Many towers went offline due to electricity breakdowns and road blockages.
PTA confirmed that telecom operators worked round the clock to restore connectivity. Mobile and internet services are now available in most flood-affected areas. The authority stated that joint efforts with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and power companies helped speed up recovery.
Engineers faced major challenges while accessing submerged sites. Despite these obstacles, operators managed to repair equipment, restore power supply, and reactivate towers. PTA added that the remaining sites will be restored as soon as conditions allow.
Connectivity has played a vital role in rescue and relief operations. Restored networks are helping people contact families, request aid, and access important updates. Officials noted that mobile banking and emergency helplines are now functioning again in many districts.
The telecom authority reassured the public that efforts are ongoing until full restoration is achieved. Regular updates are being shared with the media to ensure transparency. PTA also praised the resilience of the people in flood-hit regions.
