Adiala Jail Requests Extra Security for Imran Khan’s Court Appearance

The Adiala Jail administration has officially requested special security arrangements from Islamabad Police ahead of former prime minister Imran Khan’s possible court appearance on Tuesday. The move follows an order by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, who summoned Khan in multiple cases, including an attempted murder charge and allegations of submitting fake receipts.

Sources reveal that the jail superintendent has written to the Islamabad Police seeking additional guards to ensure Khan’s secure transfer to the Islamabad Kacheri. This would mark a rare public court appearance by the PTI founder since his arrest in August 2023.

Since then, all of Imran Khan’s trials have been held within the Adiala Jail premises, citing security concerns. Jail authorities are expected to inform the court about the police response soon.

The situation remains tense as arrangements are finalized, with authorities prioritizing both security and legal compliance amid high political sensitivity.
