Air Quality In Islamabad And Lahore Worsens Amid Cold, Dry Weather

The weather in Islamabad is expected to stay cold and dry, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The department said the federal capital and nearby areas will experience dry conditions, with chilly mornings and nights.

However, the air quality in Islamabad has worsened to โ€œunhealthyโ€ levels for sensitive groups, according to AccuWeather. People with respiratory problems have been advised to avoid outdoor activities. Even healthy individuals may experience mild breathing difficulties or throat irritation due to the poor air quality. Health experts suggest limiting outdoor exposure and using masks if symptoms appear.

In Lahore, the air quality remains in the โ€œhazardousโ€ category as thick smog continues to cover several areas, including Defence Phase 9, Askari 11, Thokar Niaz Baig, Bedian Road, and parts of the Ring Road. Residents report reduced visibility and irritation in the eyes and throat.

AccuWeather has warned that sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with lung or heart diseases could experience serious health effects. Others are also advised to reduce outdoor activities until conditions improve.

Across the country, most districts of Balochistan are expected to remain cold and dry. In Murree and Galiyat, cold and dry weather is also forecast, while fog and smog are likely to persist over the plain areas of Punjab.

Dry weather is predicted for most parts of Sindh, and similar conditions are expected in many districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PMD also forecast cold and dry weather in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautions, including wearing masks and using air purifiers indoors, especially in areas where air quality remains poor.
