Another Fake Encounter in Kashmir Unveils Pattern of Human Rights Abuses

In another grim episode from occupied Kashmir, local resident Altaf Lali was killed in what is now being exposed as a staged encounter by the Indian Army. According to reports, Lali was abducted from his home by Indian forces on April 22, 2025, and later falsely declared dead following an alleged “encounter.”

A Kashmiri woman detailed how authorities first summoned Lali’s sister to the police station, only to later detain Lali himself. At around 6 PM, the family was informed of his death, sparking widespread outrage. Locals questioned the credibility of the Indian Army’s claim, pointing out that genuine militant commanders do not live openly among civilians.

Voices from the region expressed deep frustration over the lack of accountability and international attention. “They killed him far away so we cannot even see his body,” said the woman, underscoring the emotional trauma inflicted on families in Kashmir.

This incident follows a worrying trend, with over 7,000 extrajudicial killings reported since 1989. It comes just days after another fake encounter resulting in the deaths of Mohammad Farooq and Mohammad Din, further exposing India’s ongoing human rights violations at the global level.
