Housing financing under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Scheme has increased sharply over the past two months. According to the Ministry of Finance, approved housing financing reached Rs. 313 billion during the period.
The figure represents an increase of 117 percent, showing strong growth in financing approvals under the programme.
The number of approved housing loans has also increased. A total of 53,127 loans have been approved under the scheme. This represents a 111 percent increase, according to the ministry.
Housing Loan Disbursements Increase
Loan disbursements have also recorded significant growth since June 2026. According to the Ministry of Finance, disbursements increased by 83 percent during this period.
Banks have so far disbursed 8,739 housing loans.
They also released Rs. 45 billion in housing financing during the past two months.
The figures indicate growing activity under the Apna Ghar Scheme as more financing moves from approval to disbursement.
The Ministry of Finance said the programme is gaining momentum across the country.
The scheme aims to make homeownership more accessible for people seeking housing finance in Pakistan.
Apna Ghar Scheme Could Support Construction Sector
The growth in housing finance could also increase activity in Pakistan’s construction industry.
Building new homes creates demand for several construction materials. These include cement, steel, bricks, and other building products.
Higher construction activity can also benefit businesses linked with the housing industry.
Small and medium-sized enterprises may experience greater demand for their products and services.
Businesses providing construction materials, transport, labour, and related services could also benefit from increased housing activity.
Housing Finance May Support Job Creation
The government expects higher housing activity to create additional employment opportunities. New construction projects require skilled and unskilled workers across different stages of development.
This can create work for builders, electricians, plumbers, painters, and other professionals.
The resulting economic activity may also support businesses operating within construction supply chains. According to the government, the Apna Ghar Scheme is intended to provide benefits beyond home financing.
Officials expect the programme to support homeowners while contributing to broader economic activity. With Rs. 313 billion in approved financing and 53,127 approved loans, the programme has recorded significant growth.
The Rs. 45 billion already disbursed by banks also reflects increased financing activity during the past two months.
