A local court in Islamabad has reissued arrest warrants for human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, Shahryar Rind, in connection with a controversial tweet case.
The warrants were reissued after the couple failed to appear before the court despite repeated summons. The case pertains to alleged βobjectionable and defamatoryβ remarks made on social media that authorities claim targeted state institutions.
According to court officials, both Imaan and her husband were earlier granted interim bail but did not comply with court appearances as required. The judge expressed displeasure over their absence and directed authorities to ensure their presence at the next hearing.
