First Lady and Member of the National Assembly Aseefa Bhutto paid tribute to Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto on Saturday during events marking his 41st martyrdom anniversary. The memorial gatherings took place in Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, where prayers were offered and respect was paid to the late Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader.
According to an official statement, Aseefa Bhutto was accompanied by Shahnawaz Bhutto’s daughter, Sassi Bhutto, during the visit. They first arrived at Bhutto House in Naudero, where they participated in a Quran Khawani organized in memory of Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto.
The gathering was attended by party members and supporters who came together to remember his life and legacy. Participants offered prayers and reflected on his role within the Bhutto family and the Pakistan Peoples Party.
After the memorial service in Naudero, Aseefa Bhutto and Sassi Bhutto traveled to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. They visited the shrines of the PPP martyrs to pay their respects and honor the memory of Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto.
During the visit, they offered Fateha and placed floral wreaths at the shrine. They also remembered the sacrifices made by members of the Bhutto family for democracy in Pakistan. The ceremony included special prayers for peace, national progress, prosperity, and the well-being of the people.
Religious prayers were also offered for the continued stability of democratic institutions in the country. Party supporters reaffirmed their commitment to democratic principles during the anniversary events.
Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto was the younger son of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He died under mysterious circumstances in France on July 18, 1985. His death remains one of the most discussed chapters in the history of the Bhutto family.
Every year, PPP leaders, workers, and supporters observe his martyrdom anniversary by organizing memorial events across the country. These gatherings serve as an opportunity to remember his life and the sacrifices associated with the Bhutto family’s political journey.
