Aseefa Bhutto has raised concerns over the lack of 4G and 5G mobile services in Larkana. She highlighted the issue during a National Assembly session on Friday.
Speaking in the House, Aseefa Bhutto said residents of Larkana do not have access to either 4G or 5G services. She asked Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology and Telecommunication Sabheen Ghoury to investigate the matter.
She also urged the parliamentary secretary to find a solution to improve mobile connectivity in the area. The issue drew attention during a discussion about Pakistan’s digital growth and telecommunications services.
Reliable mobile internet has become increasingly important for education, business, communication, and access to online services. The concerns raised by Aseefa Bhutto highlight the need to address connectivity gaps in different parts of the country.
Pakistan Reports Growth in Mobile Internet Users
Earlier in the session, the National Assembly received an update on Pakistan’s digital development. Officials reported that the country has approximately 210 million mobile subscribers.
The national teledensity has also crossed 83 percent, according to the information presented to the House. These figures indicate the widespread use of mobile communication services across Pakistan.
During the Question Hour, Sabheen Ghoury said mobile broadband users had reached 161.7 million. She described the figure as evidence of growing digital adoption nationwide.
She also explained that increased mobile broadband use has changed how people access the internet. Many users are increasingly relying on mobile connections instead of traditional fixed broadband services.
However, the concerns raised about Larkana point to differences in service availability across locations. National growth figures do not necessarily mean every city or community receives the same level of connectivity.
PTA Monitors Mobile Network Performance
Sabheen Ghoury also discussed the monitoring of telecommunications services. She said surveillance teams from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority regularly assess network quality.
The teams monitor service performance and issue instructions to cellular operators when problems arise. Operators are directed to address these issues and improve network quality.
Such monitoring aims to ensure better service for mobile users. However, the specific reasons behind the reported lack of 4G and 5G services in Larkana were not detailed in the provided information.
The parliamentary secretary also clarified that there has been no increase in the rates for 5G mobile services. Her statement addressed concerns about the cost of next-generation mobile connectivity.
The discussion placed both network availability and service quality under focus. Aseefa Bhutto has called for attention to the connectivity challenges reported in Larkana.
National Assembly Pays Tribute to Martyred Police Officers
The session also included prayers for four police personnel who were martyred during an anti-terrorism operation in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
MNA Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri led the Fateha for the fallen officers. Members prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and offered condolences.
The House later adjourned its proceedings. According to the announcement, the National Assembly will meet again on Monday at 5pm.
The session addressed several matters, including telecommunications, digital access, and the sacrifices of security personnel. The concerns raised by Aseefa Bhutto have brought renewed attention to mobile connectivity in Larkana and the need for a response from relevant authorities.
