LONDON: The Bhutto-Zardari family has gathered in London amid continued attention around PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Bilawal arrived in London on Friday evening after a short stay in Paris. He had earlier spent about a week in Austria.
His arrival comes as his sister Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari is also in London. Bakhtawar is accompanied by her husband, Mahmood Choudhry, and their children.
Aseefa Bhutto Zardari is expected to join the family in London in the coming days. Sources said the family could remain in the British capital for around a week.
The family gathering comes shortly after Bilawal addressed speculation about his personal life. Social media reports had linked him to an alleged engagement with an Austrian royal.
Bilawal rejected the reports and said there had been no such development. He also said social media users had gone as far as declaring him engaged and married.
The PPP chairman further said he did not know anyone known online as “Princess Gloria.” His statement followed viral claims about a possible marriage in Vienna.
Some reports had claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari travelled to Austria with family members. The reports alleged that discussions were held about a possible marriage and wedding date.
Other claims suggested that the wedding could happen later this year. The alleged bride was also linked to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein.
Bilawal dismissed the reports as social media speculation. He said any genuine decision about his personal life would be announced by his family.
He also urged people to ignore what he described as social media drama. Bilawal instead called for attention to more serious national issues.
The PPP chairman also raised concerns about deaths at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. He questioned the handling of the hospital situation.
Bilawal also criticised comments about dividing Pakistan into 30 parts. He questioned how such proposals could be discussed amid concerns about hospital management.
He further criticised remarks by a Lahore-based minister about creating new provinces. Bilawal said such major issues require serious constitutional and political discussion.
He also highlighted the historical importance of the Sindh Assembly. He noted that it was the first provincial legislature to support the creation of Pakistan.
With Bilawal and Bakhtawar in London, attention remains focused on the family gathering. Aseefa is also expected to join them soon.
The family’s movements are likely to remain under public attention. This comes after Bilawal publicly rejected the recent marriage speculation.
