Academic activities at 41 government Schools in Attock have remained suspended for eight days.
The buildings are being used to accommodate police and other security personnel.
The personnel have been deployed in the district for protest-related security duties. The prolonged closure has affected hundreds of students across several tehsils.
Parents and teachers have expressed concerns about students losing important classroom time.
The disruption comes as the academic year continues and students need to complete their coursework.
41 Schools Affected Across Attock
According to district education authorities, the closures have affected several parts of Attock district.
In Hazro, 21 boys’ and girls’ high Schools have been affected. Nine educational institutions in Hassanabdal are also being used for security arrangements.
Seven institutions in Fatehjang have also been affected by the temporary closures.
Two institutions each in Attock and Jand tehsils are facing similar disruption. The buildings have been designated as temporary accommodation and resting facilities for security personnel.
Police officials have arrived in Attock from different parts of Punjab for security duties.
Thousands of Security Personnel Deployed
A large number of police and security personnel have reportedly been deployed across the district.
Sources said around 30,700 personnel were deployed as part of the security arrangements.
The deployment reportedly includes personnel from the Elite Force and Special Branch. Punjab Highway Patrol Police personnel from six districts are also part of the arrangements.
Some of these additional personnel have been accommodated in government Schools and other public buildings.
The arrangements have prevented normal academic activities from resuming at the affected institutions.
Students Still Waiting for Classes to Resume
The closures are linked to security arrangements surrounding planned political protest activity. PTI had initially planned a march for September 27.
The party later postponed the planned march until October 4.
Despite the postponement, academic activities at the affected educational institutions have not yet resumed. Students have therefore remained away from regular classes for eight days.
Parents and teachers are concerned about the impact of the prolonged interruption on academic schedules.
