The first episode of actress and TV host Ayesha Omar’s reality show Lazawal Ishq has sparked mixed reactions online, with some users even demanding a ban.
In response to the criticism, Ayesha Omar shared that her mother enjoyed the show, and her approval is what matters most. Taking to Instagram, she revealed that her mother found the first episode “very interesting and different.” She added that her mother appreciated how the youth expressed their feelings and opinions in a healthy and respectful manner.
“Did my mum like the first episode? Bilkulllll! And her opinion and feedback matter the most to me,” Ayesha Omar wrote. She also mentioned that it took years for her mother to warm up to her iconic sitcom Bulbulay, which is now one of Pakistan’s most popular comedies.
The actress further encouraged her fans to watch the first episode on YouTube and share their feedback. She spoke warmly about her co-stars, saying she had grown to love the women she worked with during filming.
Despite her enthusiasm, Lazawal Ishq has faced backlash since its teaser release, with critics labeling it controversial and calling for a boycott.
Following the criticism, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) clarified its stance. Officials explained that since Lazawal Ishq is airing only on digital platforms and not licensed TV channels, it does not fall directly under PEMRA’s jurisdiction.
This clarification came after repeated online calls for the show’s ban. However, supporters argue that the program offers a new perspective on how modern youth express themselves.
For now, Lazawal Ishq continues to stream online, with Ayesha Omar standing firm in her defense, valuing her mother’s support above all.
