Azad Kashmir Hit by Twin Earthquakes; Multiple Buildings Damaged

Residents of Azad Kashmir felt the impact of Twin Earthquakes that struck various regions, including Muzaffarabad, early Tuesday morning.

The first quake hit at 6:16 a.m., registering 5.1 on the Richter Scale, followed by a second, stronger quake at 6:23 a.m., measuring 5.3.

Both earthquakes, which occurred at a shallow depth of 20 kilometers, caused widespread alarm and damage, leading many to flee their homes in fear. Areas such as Muzaffarabad, Leepa Valley, Karnah, and Jhelum Valley experienced significant damage.

The seismic activity also affected parts of Indian-occupied Kashmir, including Baramula and Poonch. Reports indicate that a woman was electrocuted by a fallen live wire during the quake.

Online videos show substantial structural damage, including cracks in the walls of numerous houses.
