A visiting lecturer from the Department of Software Engineering at Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been accused of sexually harassing a female student in exchange for academic favors, triggering swift action from both university officials and local law enforcement.
According to a formal notice issued by the university, the accused has been prohibited from entering the campus while an official investigation is underway. The university’s Anti-Harassment Committee has launched a formal inquiry and assured that the matter will be handled in accordance with institutional rules and legal procedures.

Law enforcement authorities confirmed that a case has been registered at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Police Station. The female student submitted a written complaint, stating that the lecturer had intentionally failed her in the exam and then made inappropriate advances, suggesting that she could pass if she visited him at his residence.
She further alleged that when she went to his house, he sexually harassed and molested her. Upon her refusal to comply with his demands, the lecturer reportedly demanded Rs50,000 in exchange for clearing her exam.
The police have pledged a thorough and impartial investigation, reviewing all aspects of the case to ensure justice. Meanwhile, the university administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe academic environment, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment of any kind.
Officials have also encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation progresses.
