Balaj Tipu Case: Security cameras Malfunctioned During Key Suspect’s Family Member’s Murder

The CCTV cameras near the site of Muhammad Javed Butt’s murder in Lahore were found to be non-functional. Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, a key suspect in the Amir Balaj murder case, was shot dead last week.

Police sources reported that the inactive Safe City cameras have hindered the retrieval of clear footage from the crime scene. Four teams from the CIA and the Investigation Wing are now collaborating to trace the killers.

Officials revealed that a 30-bore pistol was used in the attack, with gunshots to the right abdomen proving fatal. The attackers reportedly began following Javed Butt from the Iqbal Town area, and authorities are working to trace their route and post-attack movements despite the lack of surveillance footage.

Earlier this year, Ameer Balaj Tipu was killed at a wedding by Muzzafar Hussain, a former gunman for Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, due to a 30-year-old feud. Muzzafar was shot dead immediately after Tipu’s murder, and suspects Khawaja Tareef and Khawaja Aqeel (Gogi Butt) were declared fugitives, with police suspecting Tareef fled abroad while Gogi remains in hiding within the country.
